my flowerhorn has physical hole and line crease in head kok. It eats and swims very actively. I have tried the new life spectrum hex shield for 3.5 days and used some api general cure for 24 hours and have kept water very clean. I even use some seachem cichlid trace to replenish nutirents that may be removed by purigen. What is wrong? Will the hole and line crease fill/heal itself back up with time? How long does the hole take to heal? This problem started about two weeks ago. Flowerhorn is very active.

What size tank? Do you do weekly water changes? What other fish do you have in it? What's your nitrate reading in PPM? A lot I know, but need to know it to hopefully help.
50 gallon tank with small daily water changes and big weekly. Only one flowerhorn. Very clean water no nitrate.
The holes will sometimes heal but other times they leave behind a pit, almost like a scar. I use API Stress Coat to help my fish maintain their slime coat. Anytime my male get a scratch or injury I add a little extra stress coat and aquarium salt and he heals up in 2-3 days no problem. Whats the PH of the tank? What are you feeding him?
No, cannot take a quick enough picture and I do not want to take fish out of tank.
What is your nitrate reading in PPM? Knowing this and keeping it as low as possible would be first and foremost before adding meds.
