Every oscar ive had ends up with hole in head,no live feeding, good water, other fish always great, eat varied diet, not very crowded tanks, but seriously, one of my favorite fish but afraid to get one again, torture to see them get so jacked up,whats realy goin on,how was i screwin these guys over?

Assuming a hole always depends on nutritional factors I add seasalt to the water to offer necessary mineral traces at 1 gramm per 10L of water for each weekly waterchange.... :)

Keep up on your water changes. Some say 25% others I've seen say they do 50% each week. I was battling HITH for a while with mine and as soon as I was changing the water such that the nitrates were less than 10ppm, it started to heal immediately.

So, now, I test the water every week and if the nitrates are over 20ppm, I do a 30-50% change. I also only feed 5 days a week as well. The tank gets the weekends off of food, but he's still growing at a very fast rate. I think O's will eat just to eat, not so much that they really need to eat as much as they seem to want to.

OK you might replace "for" with "on" concerning waterchanging... :D
