My blood parrots seem to have this.... Is there a way to treat HITH?? if so how? And will the holes cover up and look normal again?? I've heard that alot of BP gets this... i was wondering if this could be genetics??? Does anyone know about this?
Thanks ahead!

Water changes. 50% per week. Invest in some quality food like Omega One.

hith is caused by poor water parameters
i would change your water and do a 50% water change every week
it will clear up but they will still have the scars

Many fishkeepers think that removing carbon filters helps--along with great water quality and vitamin-soaked pellets.

HITH it likely caused by one or two things. Poor diet or poor water quality. I sugget never letting your nirates get over 20ppm. I don't know your tank but this may require more then one water change a week. Check your parems. I also suggest adding a vitamin supplement to the diet of your fish. I use Boyd's "Vita-Chem". I addition to this feed your fish a varied diet of various pellets (shrimp pellets, spirulina etc.), frozen foods and if you can some veggie material as well.

I feed my parrots pellets, frozen market prawn, and mealworms. I do water changes 50% every 2 weeks, but thats because i don't feed them everyday... i feed them every two days. Would i still need to do WC every week?

Do the water changes based on your nitrate readings, those will tell you when they need to be done. Keep the nitrates under 20ppm. The diet looks nice but I still suggest the Viti-Chem. It isen't expensive and all you do is let some pellets soak in a few drops of it for awhile. Also notice that the foods you use are all meat based, the added addition of some veggie based pellets or actual veggies will help. Trust me, I have delt with HITH. Keeping nitrates under 20ppm and soaking pellets in Vitamins is the trick but you'll want to do that even if you cure the HITH, it's a good thing to do for the health of your fish.
What size is your tank, what is it stocked with and how large are the fish?
