This is a question for all you math guys. I have a wet/dry i just built, and im wondering what the best hole diameter is to use for my drip plate to ensure that all my bio-media gets even coverage. I dont want to use to large a hole and have the media on the far side of the drip plate not get used. The drip plate itself is about 12 inches by 15 inches, and the flow rate through the filter is going to be about 1000-1200 GPH.

If anybody could help me out i'd really appreciate it. My original plan was a total of 100 holes, with a diameter of 1/8th of an inch, and im not sure if this is too many or too few. Thanks.

"to ensure that all my bio-media gets even coverage."

Good luck with that...

I get about 5mm for 64 holes, with a safty margin ( add a bit, times something and minus a random number)... So 100 * 5 to 6mm holes should give you a reasonable coverage.

Use smaller bit for the holes closest to the water source and get larger as you're going towards the outer section of the drip plate.

For example, you can use 1/16 near the source, then 1/8 and 3/16 towards the outer edge so water will have a chance to travel out to outer area
