I just saw they make 5 gallon pale filter bags all the way down to 10 microns. I repeat a filter bag that fits inside a 5 gallon bucket. I bet you could finally go a week or more between changes on your dirtiest tanks.

I am waiting for response on flow rate of these beast.

you got a link to these badboys?

I second that motion. Those would come in real handy on a diy over head filtration im planning out. Link please :headbang2

Sounds very interesting.

I've seen paint strainer bags for 5 gallon buckets, that's not what you're talking about, is it?

That's pretty awesome. I'm sure these will handle tens of thousands gallons per hour, w/o even flinching. A 7x16" sock can handle 6000gph, so these have to be several times that. That would require a monster sump!

Mcmaster sells them too, but only down to 100 micron. But they don't give any flow ratings, since I don't think most would use them in that way.

Here is the response from the rep. I feel like they avoided the question because they don't know the answer. GRavity pr pump feed is still measured in gph and you measure the gph the same both ways. I am for sure going to order a few to test out

___________________________________

We do not have a flow rate for the 5 gallon pale bags because they are usually used as gravity fed systems. It would be impossible to measure the flow rate because as the bag would fill up with debris and the hole openings are clogged up, the water would start overflowing because there is no real pressure forcing the water through. I hope that explains your question, if not, please do not hesitate to call me and I can explain more in depth.

any one find any pics of these actually in a five gallong bucket. I am curious to c how much there is of a over lap on top. To go down over the sides?
