My little brown worm thread required pictures so here they are...

a little concerning to me:

180 with bottom refugium, and water hycinths...
refugium is as follows:
sock, pot scrubbers, dead zone, for plants, more baffles, then exit chamfer for return pump...

2 new pieces of driftwood, from a local but very reliable LFS (Gerber's saltwater warehouse)

1 RT CAT, 1 JD cichlid, 1 Pike Cichlid, and 1 Red Devil....

Here are the parasites....

Ok what are these and treatment?

I have added coppersafe this morning, right after a good sand cleaning and 50 gallon water change....

also those little brown worms, there are a few that ARE HUGE:

Yep, big leeches...so how do I treat these and make them go away??

Please any advice, ......

TIA

lol, did you put in river water? I have no idea how you could have gotten leeches. How big is your tank? If anything, I would completely empty it and replace with new, parasite-free water.

hmm, how do you think they came in then?

Neither of those are parasites they are harmless detritus / snail / wormfeeding / scavengers..

Why treat for anything and risk the health of your fish? If anything they make good fish food.

Leeches are harmless?

I don't know how I'd get rid of them, but I'd certainly want to; if nothing else, they are ugly.

the ONLY foreign matter of any type is I feed my cat nightcrawlers from wally world....I didnt was them off, which I now have read here that most peeps do wash these worms off to completely remove any and all dirt(matter)....

Could they have been in the plants roots??

BTW

I am sure my cat will LOVE those leeches....

They are cute, and some species are harmless, others are not so harmless. But you'll know right off the bat. Obviously the fish are okay. Just enjoy watching their antics while they live out their lives.

It is not unusual for leeches to come in on water hyacynths which are usually pond grown. One treatment for leeches in koi ponds recommended Trichlorofon
