I realize that it may be hard to pinpoint , as we all like different species of fish, but I'm just curious...What is the rarest freshwater fish one can keep...I've heard a lot of talk of the Platinum red tail cat and i'm wondering if thats the one???.... Just curious

I'm sure this thread has already been run but my searchs' didn't widdle it down to one answer......mabey there isn't one

you are going to get a million different answers. I am willing to bet that all of the aro people will chime in making up some crazy aro combo like a platinum red bellied two tone crosseyed crossback asian arowana... or something silly like that.

all kidding aside, there is a holy grail catfish, a holy grail cichlid, etc... just depends on what you are into.

for me its got to be a Platinum red tail catfish, wanted one ever sens i seen a pic of one a long time ago.

Asian Arowanas and Siamese Tigers arent rare.

There will always be an albino or other colour morph that is the first known for that species.

For me it would be 'Cichlasoma' ornatum, but if I researched even just cichlids more I'm sure I could find others.

For me it would most definitely be CHANNA BARCA.

I will have one of those within the next 2 years.

Yes they are both very rare where i am. Asian aros are crazy expensive and are illegal in the US and STs are said to be extinct.
