...Im out here!!
hi everyone ,just the other day i became a member of mfk n something caught my eye that day thats has given me another challenge, beside of trying to obtain sum true fastaes n breading them.after seeeing the possability come true im building a tank out of ply wood for me n my buddy,he;s tank is gonna be 5feet x 2 ft x 30'',mines is 7ft x 4ft x 3ft, ive got the hardware n supplies n wondering what kind of fyber glass to use n how thats not my feild by a long shot so pls help me im loozin my mind ova here

In my plywood tank I used regular fiberglass woven mat and MAS epoxy resin. I only used the matting on the seams and to cover the sections where there were screw holes. For everything else I just did 3-4 coats of the tinted resin on the finished surface of the wood.

I found it very easy to apply, it comes in a 2:1 resin:hardener package, very easy to eyeball and mix up, I just used those 50 cent chip paintbrushes from HD to apply. I think the half gallon kit was about 60 bucks and was enough to do my 4x5x1.5' tank.

Look into sweetwater epoxy. I am using it and I like it. I am also not using fg matting. I just reenforced the seams with Bondo and will silicone them when the epoxy is cured. More expensive than fiber glass resin but easy to apply.

After I had my tank set up for about a year, I decided I wanted to change the color, so I sanded it down a bit and painted over the epoxy resin with the Sweetwater epoxy paint. I had good luck with that as well.
