I am starting the build on a stand for my new 40 gallon long tank, I plan on having a nice fininshed peice of furniture out this when I am done. I will post some pics so please stay tuned. By the way
Happy Thanksgiving

a thanksgiving tease? oxymoron alert!

you're supposed to give! so we can be thankful

Here is my progress so far, give me some ideas on how I should finish it. Meaning how should I sheet it in a tastful manner, I have all the trim and material. What kind of design, traditional?? Something somewhat radical? I plan on building a canopy as well.

I would add some vertical members that actually support the frame from beneath. The way you have it built all the weight of the tank is supported on the nails or screws holding the top to the uprights.

am i missing something? that looks like 2 separate stands, both being halfway done. in the top i see 8 risers and no top. in the bottom i see 4 risers and a top?

Day 2 for the 55, 40l, 33l stand. It needs more sheating and lots of sanding and then the trim. What kind of african cichlid community would you suggest? Any thing different for the stand, doors?? Paint it or stain it? Color stain maybe? Anything

Looking good.

Finish-wise, would depend on your taste - some people like to paint theirs others prefer the stained wood look.

If it were me, I'd go with a clear stain look.

Thank you... Ok here is my update, tomorrow I am going to finish the sheating and work on the trim. As fars as stain is concerned I went to lowes and bought some water based color stain, the color is called Verdigis by minwax it is a nice ocean green like color. Anyways, more pics will be up tomorrow. I can't wait.

Hi..great work. I just had a stand made for my 55gal. Mine has 2 drawers and 2 doors below them. I stained mine with Minwax `Early American `stain. Looks really nice. I also have a trim along the top to hide the black trim of the tank. But , that`s just my taste..
