Hey MFK,

I wanted to put river rocks in my tank and was wondering if the ones they sell at home depot are safe? I was looking on their site and it looked like all their river rocks they had online were polished would that be an issue? If so where can I buy some?

Thanks ya'll!

Ones that I got at HD were mostly grey and not polished. There's different kinds at the store, not sure about online. They won't hurt the tank at all...

Cheapest place is a local quarry you can get rocks for like 7-8 cents a pound.

Thanks for the fast reply but I tried to search for some around my area couldn't find any. That's why I was looking at Home Depot. Would the polished rocks be safe for the aquarium though? I will keep looking to see if I could find any around my area. I'm just doubting it because it is polished and I don't know what kind of chemicals were used or if any chemicals were used.

Thanks I was planning on going in to check it out. Thanks I know their is different types but the ones I liked were polished but hey if don't hurt I will go in and get the ones I liked. I'll also see what other ones they have.

Many places that sell bricks, and other landscaping materials are great places to look,
and sell for reasonable prices by the ton. Everything form shale to Texas holey rock.
I find that rocks of grey, or brown are the best. The ones with bright color are distractions, and take attention away from the fish, until they become covered with algae and the like, which they all do.
