Hello

it's the first time I tried ... well at least this one is ment to hold water ... I built something for my leopard geckos in the past.

I will need your help soon ... I plan making a 110 gal tank, rimles out of a 5/8 thick glass ... it's gonna be 42 long x32 deep x20 high but that's a new thread ...

the wood is just to hold on the sides =)

Looks good. One old trick you might use on the next tank is to lay down some tape on both sides of the verticle seal. Then lay your silicone bead and spread it and then tear off the tape. It will leave a nice crisp bead line and look store bought. I usually lay the tape about 1/2'' from the corner on both sides and then use a plastic spoon to spread the bead. It makes a large seal area but looks nice.

sorry,

how long till its cured? im contemplating on building a tank of my own. im wondering how much of a "professional touch" is really requiired

well if you use the spoon method like i was talking about, you end up with a 1/2'' thick bead. And that takes around 48hrs to cure. But i usually give it 3-4 days. The last one I did was a last summer and it was a suprize leak on my fahaka puffer tank. So that one i stripped and sealed in a day and then let it set outside in the sun while i was at work and then filled it that night. So it only got maybe 24-26hrs of cure time. But i did leave out in the direct sun on a 90 degree day. So that helped out I am sure. And as for building one from scratch. i have only built 4 in my life time and none were bigger than 50g. But as long as you etheir cut the glass or order it cut to the right demensions it is a breeze.

nice build that tank is gonna be sweet when your done can't wait to see the next batch of photo's.

YAY thanks guys !!! This is my first aquarium tank ...

YES definitely gotta work on making the seal smaller ... I cut some of it to make it look better but still I was paranoid about making sure that this thing will keep water well that's why I put so much silicone ... And the glass ... I was cutting it myself so there are minor imperfections.

I will be building a BIG one soon ... I'm contemplating it's gonna be either : 42L 32W and 20 H OR 60L 36W and 20 high .... hmmm IDK any ideas ? Also Should I do bracing for whichever I decide ? ( I guess right ? like the bottom ones I will do for sure for the top ... idk either all way around or one 4inch strip tru the middle ? OR 4 nicely cut corners ? )

THANKS for the advice and for the compliments on the tank !
