i dont feel like spending 500$ sooooo:

I would have an extremely powerful powerhead at the bottom to compensate for the two outakes coming from the tank, enough media?

500? lol just pm rich from infinite aquatics and he'll sell you a used fx5 for 175.. doesnt come with media though.

yeah i think itll work

it looks backwards the filter floss should be first , what type of canister r u using and your pump is where and what is feeding the canister

I know for like 2 or 3 bucks you can get a 5 gallon bucket at homedepot with a sealing lid and a gasket. I don't know if I'd trust it under pressure though. Assuming it will be placed under your tank, the lid will need to withstand more water pressure than the silicone holding the tank together. It also seems like you'd get water everywhere when you take it apart to clean it.

I cant think of any other cheap ways to make the body of the canister

search for this. lots have tried and failed. i personally would spend the money...

i think if you used the 5 gallon bucket and plumbed the lid with pvc you could hook the output to a external/internal pump mabey a pond pump that wouldnt pressurize the canister i dont think it would anyway... it would suck from the canister not pump into it i might try this lol

Yeah. If you don't want to buy a filter, why don't you build a sump instead of attempting to build a canister?
