Here is the final result. Seeker 8' extreme blue s-glass blank (30-50lb) with american tackle turbo blue/chrome guides. No reel seat on this baby using an Avet MXL with a clamp. Planned use is jigging striped bass, bluefish, pollack and maybe even tuna.

nice, my sisters in second grade and weighs 200 pounds and i bet you could still reel her in with that baby

Nice rod man is this your first one? How close does the line come the blank when it's under pressure? Nice Avet too!
You might also want to add some sort of a reel seat, depending on how far the blank bends. If it does reach the reel it's possible it could fracture, guessing this is a graphite stick.

This is the second rod that I built. The line comes pretty close to the blank but no less than a 1/4 of a centimeter so there are no problems with line rubbing the blank. The blank also does not bend more than 6" below the last guide and it is not a graphite blank so im not worried about the blank cracking. The blank is an s-glass blank which is much lighter than e-glass, and also much stronger.

Nice rod for a second project! Can u post pic upclose of the blank, I want to see how blue it is. I have 2 small observations: how fit is the tip? fr. the pics, it look like it's a little bigger than the rod tip. Second, is the last guide bigger than the tip ? Usually I prefer the last 2 guides (next to the tip) to have the same size as the tip guide so the line would come out straighter. Nice rod btw :)

The tip top is a little but bigger than the blank so I just used some extra ferrule cement to fill the gap. The last 5 guides toward the tip are a size 10 ring as is the ring on the tip top. Ill get a pic of the blank close up for you. Its more kind of a greyish blue.

Nice.Often thought about trying to build a rod but never got that far.
