I was doing some browsing online on what to feed my new geos, and came across a couple websites that mention feeding a gelatin bound mixture of processed fish, flakes, veggies, etc.

Does anyone use recipes like this? Is it okay for everyday feeding or only occasionally?

It is fairly easy to make gel food but why would you? Do you know about fish nutrition more than than some high quality fish food manufacturers? I'd stick to commercial food as a staple, making sure what you buy is the best on the market.

For geos just lightly blend some of the following or similar: shrimp/krill,fish chunks, freeze dried crickets, any flake or pellets you use, a small amount of mixed veggies (such ascarrots , peas, etc) and every once in a while add edible active carbon for chelation purposes .

Feed on the bottom

I agree with Cory, feed high quality pellets, small enough for sand sifters such as geos. The higher quality brands such as NLS will supply a better balance of nutrients than most home made foods. For juvie geos, and even larger adults, 1-2 mm is an ideal size for feed particles. Any larger and a lot of the food will end up in the water column. Skip flake food, it starts to leach out water soluble nutrients as soon as it hits the water. Good luck.
