Surfin online I've come across several accounts that state these are quite peaceful & calm compared to the more common black & pink species. Has anyone kept these & do they tend to be a little calmer & less aggressive than other convicts? I know there's exceptions to every rule, & other variables involved so just looking for anyone's personal experience. The Hondurans are pretty little fish.

If you want more peaceful, look at Cryptoheros cutteri. Mine get along well in my cichlid community tank, though they are a bit fierce while spawning.

I have a breeding pair, and they paired up while i was still growing out fish in their tank. I didnt even realize there were eggs for like 3 days, if it were convicts I think I would have known alot sooner

They are a bit less aggressive than cons, but will hold their own when defending fry. They are great fish to keep.

I have to disagree with Lab_Rat on cutteri's disposition. I have found my breeding pairs to be on par with cons when they are spawning.

i would also say they are less aggressive than cons, but breeding pairs do beat up tankmates.mine killed a catfish i had with them

I second the comments about them being just under cons in aggression. Mine ignores the pristella tetras he's with, but hunted down all the cories in his tank.

OK thanks for the replies guys. I'm still thinking about these little beauts.

I highly recomend them. They are really beautiful and you don't need a huge tank. They are so different then convicts I still don't understand how anyone could confuse the two sp.

I keep 10 in a 150g with baby geos and they are very peaceful little fish I have had 2 pairs spawn with no aggression or murderings
