I have a HRP and I've never seen another one in person. I'm pretty sure it's female because the markings in the side of the body are similar to that of female convicts but what I'm really wondering is are all/most red points this blue when they're young? I've only seen more mature ones online so I have no reference. Btw the dorsal fin was like this when I got her, she had been badly beaten up at the LFS I got her at, looks cool though, puts the point on my red point.

Yes they are blue all over. they can be dark or light and You seem to have a real Honduran Redpoint there that is completely Undyed.
HRP's have a different face structure (more blunt and sloping) than a convicts more beak-like face. They are a pretty hard to find fish so it might seem like its an unreal colour to you but they really are blue. My ones are more of a light frosty blue, but some members on here have darker more deep blue ones.

it looks like a great HRP you have there, my avatar is the male from my pair.

Thanks man, couldn't ask for more in an answer. Hopefully I can find a male and see about breeding them. Are they similar to convicts as far as breeding goes as well or is there actually effort to be made. lol

that is a good looking HRP i have a few males that i have had for a few years, still trying to find a HRP female. The first time i saw a HRP i didnt believe that it could be so blue and such a beautiful fish, but as they got older they just continued to get better and better looking
