I have a penguin 350 hangon filter, they say good for 75g, just keeping the water circulating on my 75 with 1 fish. The filter details are somewhat:350gph, has 2 biowheels per filter and carbon/ammonia inserts. My question is: if I run 2 of these filters on my 75...do you think I could get away with having about 10 3" dats in there comfortably for a month or so until I put my wet/dry on? BTW the tank and gravel and first filter is well established for a long period of time with all tank cond good.

oh yeah and there is a current salt content in the tank to fight disease and bacteria and dats like that.

I don't see why that wouldn't work....of course with you doing regular weekly water changes too. :)

But then, I don't know anything about Dats....are they super messy or something?

Use what you got but if you have to purchase another filter, why not just one filter that will more than handle that size tank? You cut down on maintainence, energy costs and tubes inside your tank. I picked for example an Aqua Clear 110 which has an internet price of $40 or less. You are done.
or something like it.....cant see playing with two filters when one can do the job well.

Just my thoughts

if i was to get a hang on thats what i would do.

I think the 2 penguins would do the job for a while, just make sure they don't get clogged because the flow rate can go down very quickly. however, I agree with the above posters that if you have to buy another then an AC 110 would be a whole lot better.

I've always run a least 2 filters, no matter what size or type, just for the backup factor. Odds are very slim that 2 filters will bite the dust at the same time (excluding power outages).

GO for an AC110. Use 1 1/2 inch thick fliter floss between the sponge and the
biomedia. You will DEFINITELY see more gunk trapped compared to the Penguin 350.
