I really want a ray but I dont have enough room for a motoro (2' width of tank)
so I was thinking of getting a Retic. It would bein a tank with 4 red tail payaras, possibly some polys.

Should I try? I just dont want to end up with a dead ray..

I just remembered, retics
make up for small diameter with long tails.
:(

The tank is 6' long.

scobina is the only ray for that size tank they max out at 12inch disk good luck in finding them

There is a scobina on aquabid.com now. I am not sure if it is a true scobina though....

I checked it. pickup only.

Well, I have my retric in a 180 (6X 2X 2).

It is a male and will be a little smaller than a female when fully grown. Some people say one retric in a 180 is good for life, other say it's not. If my ray out grows his tank in a few years then I'll upgrade, but a 180 is fine for a while.

I haven't had any problems with my ray. He is captive bred and I watched him in the store for months before I brought him home. He was skinny at first but I beefed him up fast with worms. As far as his tank mates in the 180: fire eel, severums, royal pleco, and a BGK.

IMO, if the ray is eating, active, and you keep the tank clean then you won't have problems. A 6 X 2 tank will be fine for a single Retric for a long time, just start saving up so you can get that wider tank in a few years!

also larger tanks keep you water quality in better shape.... I would hold off on the ray till you can house it a lil better...
