Hood help plz

my wife sat on my lid when i was cleaning Its a 55g tank lid that had two different lids. The glass broke out of the one. would putting in plexy glass work?? Its for under the light

It would still keep water from getting in to your light fixture at least, I'd think it would be fine

I tryed it with nothing then the water blew the bulb. They only sell the whole set up for 45 bucks and i only need the glass part.

Try going to a glass shop and have them cut you a piece that matches the broken one. You might want to bring the broken pieces so they can measure it to make sure it fits properly.

The two tops on a 55 gallon are 10 gallon lids. I'm pretty sure they sell glass tops for 10 gallons for relatively cheap, like this one. http://www99.shopping.com/All-Glass-10-Gallon-All-Glass-Versa-Top-Glass-Canopy-20-10-Black/info. If you still have a working light, this should be fine. $10 isn't so bad. I think they sell these at Petco's and Petsmart's too.
