Somewhere
Well i just got sick and tired of my 55 gallon
every 3 days i have to add water cause its evaporating soo fast temperature is 75 but i need to raise it to 80 for reason of my fish.. I dont have hood , just wooden "looks to be hood" think.
How can i stop evaporating water without , getting new hood?
any good "cheap" DIY ideas? pictures and how to's welcome
thx people

go to pet solutions.com there awesome i got 3 hoods for my 125 for 40 bux and i told them 1 brokw so they sent me 3 more free without any proof of the breaking...

if you dont like that just find a couple of the large tuberware containers and take those lids off, cut a hole in them for ur light and there u go.

if that still to expensive id just go with seran wrap.

Do you have a lip around the top of your tank? If you do, I'd highly recommend getting some glass lids cut. If you try to seal it with a hood, you're going to end up with condensation all over the inside of it.

like i said the ones a petsolutions.com are great

I got 1/8 glass lids cut to size for my 75. 4 pieces total (because of the center brace), $10 total.

glass sounds good
i got that center brace so i will need 2 pieces lol
can you point me to some good online store for acrylics? i would prefer acrylics before glass tho thx in advance

Go Glass Acrylic does not really work for this application. It warps really bad and the tops don't last for long at all. I would just order the glass tops on-line less than $40 for 1/4 inch or so glass, nice hinges and pull tops. If you want to go cheap go to Lowes or Home Depot and have 1/8 glass cut to size. Then silcone on a marble as a pull handle.
