hood or open top light?

I have eels so I couldn't have one of those open top light fixtures so I have the OG hood/light set up

What are you guys using?

If your using one of them open top lights what kind of fish do you keep?

I do anything and everything I can to keep a tank open top. My 120 gallon and 10 gallon is open top. I keep SA cichlids, tetras and an Axolotl (not in the same tank of course)

Exactly that, it's open. I like being able to walk up to a tank and look down as if it were in the wild. I also think it just looks cleaner and more impressive. On the downside, evaporation sucks and you can't keep species that are jumpers. Only two of my tanks are open top but I like them best.

The only risk is losing a fish every once in a while and it always seem to be your favorite. It happened to me a few weeks ago. But I do like the open top look. But after I lost my fish I covered it a little.

Yeah my african butterfly would jump out pretty much every time he sees me walking up to the tank think I'll feed him, not to mention the eels.

I do agree though it looks way more legit.
