Giant Goramui has taken out the Arowana much to my disgust,do you know if this is common?

Sorry to hear this...what size was the arowana and the GG??? It is common if the arow was a juvenile..they are pretty fragile when young... i am sorry for your loss...

Welcome to the site, and unfortunately, Giant Gouramis do tend to have a nasty side to them. If they find a weaker fish, they quite often will target it.

Both about 13cm,was wondering about getting a larger Arowana but as they are not cheap here it might be better not to especially if a say 20cm Arowana was brought then it took out the GG.

It could be possible the arow would go after GG....and GG may think they can take on the world now...so he may think it would be fun to bother the Arow...and then arow might snap.... sometimes these combos work fine... sometimes no... i have my arow with bottom dwellers just so paths don't meet so often... that seems to work well...
