Does anyone field herp? If so what kind of hook(s) do you prefer?

Send this guy a message, he will make one custom for you. Mine have a bit more weight to them and I like them shorter (~36"). These are quality hooks and if you tell him it is for the field, he will make it nice and hefty for you.

Dana from Midwest tongs (tongs.com) makes some good ones too. I was given the prototype gentle giant tongs to test and they are still going strong after nearly 8 years of use. The stump ripper they have for sale will last about 2 or 3 years which is pretty average for a field hook.

Yep thats where I got my stuff. I love the stump ripper although I had to reattach the head and then I added extra weight behind the head in the shaft (Dude that sounds so dirty I'm sorry lol). Although I use my stump ripper for flipping tin more than anything.

Chris said it, John's hooks are super high quality, I love mine. I could use it effectively with anything from a Copperhead to a Black Mamba if the need arose, it's extremely versatile.
