Does the plant have a whitish color down middle? It is not a aquatic plant n only roots should be under water. And still may rot.
Maybe just get some pothos

That looks like Mondo grass I know Petsmart sells it. Its not a true aquatic plant but you can grow like that as long as it gets good light.
