With regular water changes a good diet etc can a fish still grow in a small tank

They might still grow, but it will most likely be a lot slower. At some point they will most likely stop growing though. May I ask what size fish you are considering and what size tank?

Yup. Heck with a horrible diet, inadequate filtration and darn near neglect they can grow. The large cichlids in small tanks on YouTube prove that.

they will definitely grow no matter the tank size, some better than others, but as strollo stated, slower than normal and usually won't reach maximum potential if the tank fits like a fat man in spandex.

don't worry too much about an adequate tank if you're moving. Just provide the best care you can until you're able to give him something better.
