Hi, i recently purchased 2 dwarf jewel cichlids upon doing some research online i cant seem to find anything that specifically relates to the "dwarf" version? is it safe to assume that all its requirements are the same as the full sized jewel cichlid? obviously with the exclusion of tank size needed? any help would be greatly appreciated

Alex

You might want to look up Anomalochromis thomasi and see if that is the fish you have. It's what is usually called a dwarf jewel. Sometimes it refers to 'Hemichromis lifalili' ... which is normally just a smaller more colorful H. guttatus race and not the true H. lifalili.

awesome! thanks for that :) would be nice if the lfs labelled fish with their proper names, we can always hope i suppose :P

Common names are always a pain. They can be different even in the same city store to store, so I have know idea what they might be on your side of the pond. That's why I listed the scientific names, easier to google and compare to your fish.
