What is the general temperment of the true parrot cichlids? Are they peaceful, like say a severum?

Do they pick on other less agressive fish such as fire eels and BGKs?

id say they're more aggressive than a severum. mine is pretty laid back but will chase every once in a while. they can be quite aggressive though. i'd imagine it'd be fine with the fire eel but im not sure about the knife

from what i have heard they are relatively peaceful, but not as peaceful as a severum. it also just depends on the fish, i would say unless you are doing a very large tank i would group out a group and wait for a m/f pair to form and keep just those two and a group of silver dollars in like a 125

How would one work in a 125 with an Oscar and Severums?

i would say no with oscars and probably not with severums, they get big, and they will probably rule the tank

Oh well. Too bad, they are great looking fish! I just don't want to risk any of my current stock.

Thanks!

They work fine with sevs, geo's, and o's as long as you get the parrots and other fish
when they are small. I have 6 in with rotkiels, heckelli, festivum, 2 o's and some small pikes they do just fine. They started off in a 75 and are now in the 225.

they are probably a bit tougher than sevs....capable of doing serious damage but don't often do so....125 is not ideal for adults..180 (or above) is a lot better.
i didnt no that thanks for the info :)
