Does any keep their Hoplarchus Psittacus with smaller fish like Cory cats and tetras? I have a blue acara I can not trust with any small fish. I'm wondering do the Hoplarchus Psittacus like to eat other fish?

if you have one of the bigger cories (like brochis sp.) and deep bodied tetras, like colombians it might work

About the same attitude as the acara. Probably a little bit more aggressive though. There are not too many cichlids that can be trusted with small fish. NOM NOM NOM

I had 5 6-7" Psittacus that I added a group of 4-5" Aussie Rainbowfish too. Well I came home from work one day soon after and 2 of the Psittacus were dead having strangled themselves trying to eat the rainbow fish. I thought there was no way the psittacus would ever eat them given the relative sizes.

Don't do it! I still have nightmares about that day!!

Yeah Thats what I thought. I figuared it would be a bad idea but I had to ask. Thanks guys.

Depends on the individual fish. I have a 6" psitts with a group of small (2") clown loaches and he leaves them be. But they are predators...
