Hoplarchus psittacus?

quite a few members on here have them so people should be able to chime in but they are a very cool fish, most pictures do not do justice to their colors. i have had a wild caught juvie thats about 6-7in and he actually has these really pretty intense blues mixed in with hes greenish base color. unfortunately him and my argentea do not get along and he just keeps beating up on my argentea so i have him separated in a small bb 10g quarantine tank right now, im probably going to be looking into rehoming him since i like my argentea much better and im thinking of switching to discus anyways. but hes a very pretty and outgoing fish, i wanted to start with a smaller specimen since it was wild caught i knew i would have more success if it was smaller but unfortunately the larger size was all the vendor had at the time when i ordered fish from him :( so my experience has kind of been a fail so far but he never really messed with any of the smaller fish so i think they are fine as long as their isnt a similar sized cichlid to challenge their authority

:j/k:

Some pics of the Parrots will be really appreciated..

I too had an opportunity to buy them (in Mumbai/Bombay, India). Were a bit too expensive for my budget back then.

Cheers,

I don't do anything special for mine except a very good water change regimen. My water is pH 7.6 with a total hardness of 80 - 100 ppm. I keep my temp between 80 - 82F. They eat anything and have huge appetites. They also grow very quickly and will require a large tank. I only have one in a 210 gallon with six other cichlids and I don't think I could ever put him in anything smaller. He's too big and aggressive otherwise.

I eventually had to get rid of my other parrots because the dominant one was beating up all the others. He also beat up my chocolate cichlid to the point I had to move it. It very easily stands up to my lenticulata pikes.

Mine were okay with smaller fish until they hit the 7" mark or so, then they started targeting them and trying to eat/kill them. Mine would only do it after lights out at night. He ate a 3" Herotilapia multispinosa and later attempted to ambush some 4" Geophagus I had. He's not allowed with fish smaller than 6" or so now.

I've read they are prone to HITH so I do large water changes every week.
