I recently saw this Hoplias genus Wolffish on the internet. It looks Aimara Wolf-ish to me because of the operculum's having the distinct black ovalish shaped spot. The other colors look species correct also, for Hoplias aimara. I came to the conclusion that the Hoplias species shown in the picture is indeed aimara, but its jaw is either extremely short from a genetic deformity, or the picture is showing the fish's head ,or rather its jaw ,abnormally short from the angle in which the photograph was taken. Anyone have any thoughts on this fish and the reason for the bluntness of its snout? Anyone seen another Aimara Wolffish with a jaw structure like this one has in the picture? Looks alot like Hoplias curupira(Black Wolffish) ,if it weren't for the fact of the black spot on the gill cover proving otherwise. Thanks in advance.
