I've managed to find and purchase a Hoplias curupira with a unique & bold color pattern. I am expecting a few more pictures of it tonight or tomorrow morning. The Black Wolffish(Hoplias curupira) is approximately 4"+/- in length. It was listed as a "Royal" color morph. As you can somewhat see in the picture(apologies for the bad quality picture), it has a pattern on its body that is a really contrasting silverish/cream/whitish with darker banding/stripes for lack of better adjectives to describe it. All of the wolffish's finnage is very well striped throughout the whole fins. I've seen a blk wolffish or 2 in the past that were similarly patterned, but none that were anywhere near this extreme. I was told that none of the native fish collectors had ever seen one colored up like this fish is ,and the importer also has never seen one of this extreme color morph. I was also told that the fish was in perfect shape as well. All of the fins are intact and in good shape, also the body and bottom jaw of the fish are in great shape as well. You can tell that whoever caught and housed this fish before exporting it , knew that it might be something special and maybe worth alot more money. It looks as if it was well taken care of. Hopefully, I will receive the "Royal" Black Wolffish at the first of the week. I'll be sure to post more photos asap. Thanksfw1427499667.jpg

So you're waiting for it to be shipped correct? And that's great! Just keep us updated as always. Mine has taken to krill very well, but won't eat till it's a little darker when I turn the from light off and one tank light off. His belly was full this morning with a bulge like when he ate the goby lol once they eat they're quite greedy I guess. Maybe it's just mine. I've found wolves to be greedy though. My little guy is, to keep up with that growth he has to be lol

My Aimara is a pig. Eats till it worries me sometimes. Especially the day after I change water. I haven't received an invoice yet. It is being held for me ,I am told. I received another picture, and it's not as dark or one of a kind looking in that photograph. I have asked if they would mind to send me a few more pictures. I'm truly hopeful that it's a special fish. We'll see I guess. I've been in this hobby a long long time. It will truly have to be as special as it's advertised for me to pull the trigger. I've got my fingers crossed on both hands.

Looking forward to see this fish in your tank zeke. Don't have multiple tanks or a large tank so I live thru the members here. Lol. It's got a great striking pattern.

Depending upon price, if a good deal, I'd say go for it even if it isn't as special as you were hoping it to be. Also keep in mind they change their patterns and colors drastically, mine goes from our black to pure brown to a mix and sometimes a fairly light brown with the black. Not tan like that though, which IMO looks amazing no matter the pattern. As far as personality, I'd say do not expect anything like your aimara. I hope you get it, mine is ever so slowly coming around. What are your housing plans as far as tank size and tank mates? I'd love to hear. Good luck.

Unfortunately, I have decided to pass on the Wolffish. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up other than mine. Thanks

Man, maybe one day. Mind updating the aimara thread when you get a chance?

These are ones I've sold before., they will randomly change colors from dark to light. I should have some more pictures of the ones I caught in Guyana last year also...
