I was curious as to the morphological variations in wildly distributed hoplias curupira, especially the suriname sp, if there even is one. I've had the pleasure of keeping rio choco, xingu, and orinoco. The rio choco had a bit more beige look with a more rounded snout similar to that of ery sp. I was not able to differentiate between orinoco or xingu. I saw a few pics of the suriname curupira and noticed it had a bit of elongated snout, wasnt sure if that was characteristic of all of them collected there but was curious.
