Thanks! It was sold to me in 2009 as a black wolf by an MFK member. I always thought that it was a common wolf. I tried selling it here at MFK but my thread was deleted because the moderator said that it was illegal to have/sell one in SoCal unless I was a vendor with permits.

Definitely a black/curupira, aren't you glad you didn't sell it?

I have always regretted letting go of mine.. he's the one fish that I truly miss to this day.

Thank you for responding. The black wolf was relocated in a big pond end of 2009. Unfortunately, the member is no longer active and I've lost contact.

I just purchased an 8" curupira a few weeks ago, this time I will grow it out to its full potential. I've already trained it to eat floating pellets but still feed it shrimp and tilapia fillet.

Nice, if I could do it all over again I'd try a small trio in a 180G and see what transpires from there or get a solo glassbanger piece who will keep me smiling every time I look at the tank. For the most part I really like curupira's scalation - the nice earthy tone of colouration that rapidly changes, it's a different experience seeing them in person.

I had mine on tilapia and shrimp also, but never hand-fed. Watch those fingers my friend, although mine was well behaved she (laid eggs a couple of times) definitely showed off her brute force at times. Pretty sure she could've easily shot herself out of the tank while breaking the glass top but just chose not to thankfully.
