Hoplias Malabaricus

Hi,

my 2 hoplias Malabaricus spec. Rio had spawned(the male is about 18 cm and the female is about 20 cm) the male is now guarding the eggs while the bigger female is checking the territory here some pics:

Please post some details about the environment in which they spawned, e.g.

• tank size
• water chemistry (if you live in HH Germany, you can ask your Wasserversorger or even find it online at the Stadtwerke)
• temperature
• filtration
• water change regimen
• food

Good luck with the fry, I am sure if a wolf guards them, no other will will get near

yes i live in Hamburg

- tanksize : 140 cm x 45 cm x 45 cm
- water chemistry : PH 7 temp. 26 Grad (will lwt you know exactly)
- waterchange: every 14 days a small part
- food : fishes, bloodworms (jumbo ),shrimp etc.


I post some pics when they ?hatch?(was that right? im recognizing that i have to practize more english..

and yes he is guarding very good, it is better to don't but the hand in the tank right now

Great to have another German here

I checked water parameters for Hamburg, and hardness runs around 10-12`gH and 6-10`kH, just in case someone is interested in breeding their own wolves. However, as I understand it, that species adjusts quite well.

great job man. they look like young parents. from what i've read the babies will eat eachother like theres no tomorrow.good luck on growing the babies.
