I just acquired a baby Hopilas Lacerdae (2.5~3 inches) and it's settled in 150G planted tank for now and there is no tank mates in the tank yet. What's other species can be it tank mate that don't damage my plants and not going to beat up the wolf or can't be eaten by the wolf later when its got some size :D

***I'm seeing few posts that folks debating ID between Lac and Mala so please don't start it here, I just need input about tank mates :D Thank you for your time and advises***

what about spotted gar, they are armoured arnt they... avoid anything that hangs on the bottom alot, possibly odoes?

*Spotted Gar: I never own a gar before so its might be interesting option for me :)
*Hepsetus Odoe kinda boring to me (I kept a few of them in my planted tank before I got the wolf).
**Thanks Justarn :D
***Anyone else has interesting options?

I wouldn't say avoid bottom dwellers altogether, just ones that he sees as a threat. My curu has the three bichirs going under him over him in front of his face all day and does nothing. I've no first hand experience with a lac but from reading others experience they seem to be a more friendly wolf. I'd say stay away from cichlids if you don't want any nipped fins or such. Gars should be fine as well as bichirs, though there is no guarantee with your specific specimen. Good luck, hope the fish you want work with it.

I might look into bichirs because my LFS stocking a lot of 3 ~ 4 inches Endli Bichir selling price at 20 bucks each and very nice body pattern. Thanks Moe214.

I'd want to know for sure what species it is before I went out buying tank mates for it...... Mala tank mates are going to be different then real Lac tank mates since real Lacs will likely get big enough to eat Malas.

Would you buy the same tank mates for a RTC and a bull head? Probably not.

Confirmed ID, it's a Lac! **Green color, Green eyes and U shape jaw line**

Wow Wolf really in hot season this year? I used to keep only Eryth. for the most part so I'm interest to see more options on tank mates for Lac too.

Take a quick minute or two and use the search bar... DB junkie keeps Lucy his big lacerdae with a large number of other fish in his 750. Mine is still a baby 3 inches so I can't give much advice really but I keep mine with a argentine big head dorado, pbass, giant danios and a opsariichthys sp. that's undescribed no issues yet

IS it one of Wes's?

IF so I don't think anyone really knows what his green eyes are.

Regardless....... I keep wolves with pretty much anything. Regardless of species. Never found anything they hate or that hate them.
