Super cheap and easy idea for a tank divider. This time it’s just horizontally. I have a catfish underneath and a flowehorn on top that just aren’t getting along at the moment in the 75 gallon due to the flower horn being much smaller than the featherfin.

This gives them more horizontal swimming room which I like better than cutting the tank in half vertically.

Just simple sheet of 24x48 egg crate lighting panel cut to size.

Interesting, is it being held up by anything or is it just very snug?

Very snug. Bought suction cups to support it on the edges for it to rest on but it ended up fitting like a glove.

To be honest I’ve thought about something similar to this for years. With a very tall aquarium you use egg crate or something similar to make a walkway across the sides of the tank a few times. Increase “floor” space for catfish.

That’s a great idea. It was super easy and cheap($13 for an entire sheet). I like this better than mesh because it is very sturdy and you don’t need side support like you would with mesh.

And for you idea you could add the mesh on top of the egg rate and just connect it with some fishing line so that way you can add substrate to each step. That or tile/rock/moss
