Yea, im glad hes doing a little better tho now. Ive got him eating at least once a day, hes poop/peeing every day. I threw a cricket in the other day and he chased it around the cage an tried to rip its head off by dragging it across the floor (all while wiggling his tail like a dog). So thats at least promising. I wanna try an get him fat tho. I know he needs reserves. Thanks for all your help guys. Anyone else have these?

Ive got a supply on the way. Harvester ants from an online store. Im going to start him out with 25, see how he does. If he doesnt perk up after those, then its off to a rescue for him.
 
If he's taking the crickets or at least trying I imagine he'll be willing and able to eat those ants for you. Here in FL we have those small ants, what I call sugar ants, you could try to get some of those wild outside but I'd worry that they'd been exposed to pesticides.
 
Do you know the nutritional content of the ants? I can only imagine gutloaded crickets would be more so... as he's eating them, and needs to get in shape fast.
 
Only ants i see around here are fire ants, and i wouldnt want them to overwhelm him. Also so many people hate them, they pump em full of pesticides and killer. They should be here today or tomorrow, but hopefully these gut loaded crickets will keep him ok until then. Im hoping its just a matter of a steady diet and he will perk up!

If the ants don't come in time I wonder if he'd take wingless fruit flies. Some chain stores like Petsmart are selling them now.
 
i know the ones here in Jville dont have them. If they dont come in, im going to check with some of the local rep shops and see what kind of critters i can take a run at.

Dont forget that they need formic acid in order to digest food properly. Some times they apear to be on they way to recovery and then get worse suddenly. Youll gonna need more than your fair shair of luck to recover him. Why dont you build him a outdoor pen like a litle dry but ventilated green house resembling the desert or something(better on top of a ant nest:D:drool:) that would ad great psicological and phisical benefits
