I have flourite substrate and I fertilize with flourish excel how fast should I expect to grow. I want it to thrive in my 55 gallon. Lighting is medium. Thank you

Then go for hornwort, pretty much they're basic and hardy as java ferns, but me mindful because you do need to trim it because of the rich nutrients that it will take the ferts you're adding in. And yep, those fish won't even look on plants but will do bump em time to time so you need a secure base for those plants, I had mine with my senegals with a clay pot that holds my amazon sword plants. Hope for the best! :nilly:

Cool thanks I put them in the back of the tank against the glass the whole length to add some nice contrast the substrate in the back is up 4 inches deep so they are weighted down

BTW, as I read your reply, would that be a bichir then a ropefish or a sole ropefish? plants isn't really safe when bichirs are around, they do like to go to the top of the plant and plank at it, when being startled the swift movements of those fish cuts leaves or uproots plants.

Hornwort will take over that tank. You have aquatic plants and aquatic weeds. Hornwort is an aquatic weed.
