ok, i got some hornwort today and i'm wondering how to plant it in the substrate. it doesnt have any roots, so if i stick the base in the substrate will it grow roots?

It will not grow roots. If you bury the stem beneath the substrate it is likely to rot. Better options for anchoring it include tying the plant to tank decor using fishing line or wrapping metal plant weights around the stem. Or you can just let it drift in a mass, as it usually does in nature.

i decided to tie fishing line around the hood of my tank and the knot will have enough slack so that the hornwort can sit on the line and stay underwater and wont move... that was hard to explain. ill post pics later lol.

I think I understand what you're saying. That's a nice way to keep it out of your intake! Just keep an eye on it, it grows fast.

thats what ive heard... very fast grower.
the circular current in my tank is keeping the hornwort in a single large clump in the center of my tank, constantly spinning. it should be fine till i get the fishing line set up.

very very fast grower. tried putting some cuttings of mine from my planted ten into my 125g gar tank. the damn gar ate it!! argh
