This one is for you Miguel and all Portuguese MFK that happen to see this topic
Do you know a tematic park here called "Krazy World"? Well I already had herd of it. In fatacil(a local fair for thouse outside) I got free entrace tickets(I would never pay to go to such a place) and they were valid untill dezember so today because we had nothing much special to do my parents invited me to go. After a long travel we arived. But nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to see
That thing had several animal and no animal atracions but I was there for the reptiles so was for there in a place called amazon circuit we headed first. My first feelings were kind of mixed. They had rater nice outdoor croc exibits but I didnt like the fact they had no heating(even if my beloved algarve is sunshine land it still has very cold nigths and I think is to cold for nile crocs and a salt water croc to be outside year round without heat). Also the crocs had far to litle space to swim(as we walked we find a gator habitat that in my opinion was the only one that fit the minimum living standarts crocs need). Same thing for a trio of sulcatas. The lack of care and neglect was every were, habitats closed and lots of dead tree leafs non picked but at least passable. But the WAY worse was yet to come. As we entered the so called "snake house" the smell that I felt told me nothing good was coming
First at the rigth a aligator snapper tank full of young ones(overcrowded but passable), then a american box turtle/blue tongue skink combo(way insuficient for both
) and then a "piranha" tank(red bellied pacus and chilled for that matter and with velvet). Finely a "habitat" that broke my heart

A huge iguana cage with the botom on dirt, a filpy water conteiner, dead plants and with a food conteinar that had what to me apeared as 2 days old letuce and cucumber
The only heat sorce was a cople of small infrared ligths. And speacking of the iguanas themselfes they were all skinny(2 to the point of extreme emanciacion), had skin problems(blisters and retained skin) most had very short tails and almost no crests. Very sad ,starved and sick lizards. Then in the next wall they had a batery of terrariums in wich the condicions mached the ones in the iguana cage. Particulary horrible was a beardy tank in wich they only had cucumber to eat (cople of days old for that matter)and one of the animals had a horrible necropsy of the tail. Horrible hygenic condicions(in all of the terrariums spoiled food and fezes). In the center they had a comon snapper pond in wich all of them had short tails(they bit them short) and all of them were very obese, one resembled a meat ball stucked into a copple of clam shells. At the left they had big snake terrariums including a huge reticulated python(suposely the biggest snake in captivity in europe but even then in a unclean terrarium without water).
As we left I started talking to the staff guy (a kind of "Crocodile Dundy"by product dressed, algarvian red neck
)there. The thing didnt start well. He insisted the aligator snapping turtle was the biggest freshwater turtle wille I told him I could thing of at least 4 turtle genus that can surpass it both in weigth and length. But then things calm down. I showed him picks of my igs. He said "they are owesame, you must take them outside for sunbath very often no?". I agreed (I was too stressed to tell him I also did "kind of nice" things to them like...I dont know...FEEDING THEM PROPERLY AND PRACTECING GOOD HYGENE
). Aparently that park has a permanent "veterenarian" to wich I can think of better things to call him here but I will not
I left with the felling the guy´s heart was on the rigth place but he simply is a complete knucle head. Sorry by the long post but I simply had to tell someone. Very depressing
