Horrible time trying to ID male from female! Convicts

Why don't you guys just look at their coloration? Seems simple enough to me, its generally accurate 95% of the time, and can be seen at a pretty small size.

Females will get the pink/red spangles on their sides, just behind the pectoral fins. They will also get a dark, 'blotch' in the first part of their dorsal fin. Males generally lack both characteristics.

The whole fin length thing is a fairly good method, but isn't always accurate. I've seen a couple female cons who have quite pointy fins/trailers.
