so today i woke up to find my 55 gal tank with a crack in the bottom. I have no clue what caused it. I went and bought a new tank and transfered the fish and some water to it... set up my filter. thats when my senegal decided to dive into the suction pipe to my filter. it got stuck and i had to cut the pipe to get him out. He seems ok... his heads a lil red from losing slimecoat. but i think hell live.

I had a yellow labridocromus get stuck last night in some driftwood. I tried to break the wood to no avail, and had to pull her out by her tail. I thought she was gonna die, but I have many tanks so I cleared the inhabitants to a tank salted her and melafixed her, and she is 100% already today! She was laying on her side when I went to bed, so I am HAPPY! Glad to hear the fish is o.k..............

At least you were home and caught the crack before it got worse. Or else you'll be having a much more stressful day that make you want to go crazy. hehe :D:nilly: Sorry to hear about that but you came out alright so take a deep breath and relax. Just make sure you add extra dose of Kordon Nova Aqua to restore the slimecoat and anti-bodies. I totally understand about the fish being stucked in tank equipment and decor. Below is the link to the thread. I guess for us we can see a fish can swim out but to a fish if it's nervous it cannot find it's way out. Sometimes I wonder if fish have good vision at all.

Yeah, most have good vision. No so much with cats.

My tetras often squirm themselves behind an internal filter. Cannot move, and they are probably sitting there 3-4 hours before I relise.

Good save. That which doesnt kill us makes us stronger.

Im sorry to hear. Same thing almost..happend to me with my 55. Cept my mom called me and said there was like 3 inches of water left Since I wasnt home.turned out it was because i had the tank on a dresser.. dresser bowed.. seals leaked. it didnt crack though. now the 55 is my lizards home :( I feel ya.

Oh my God, now I'm worried that my 220 could crack.
I can see it isn't level by the water line. It goes down more on one side. CAN IT CRACK??!!

If you have correct bracing and a strong stand it shouldnt crack. But little kids swinging away with rocks and toys would crack it.
