Ok so lets go back a couple days im trolling my LFS for idk what with my gf who is totally uninterested. Before we leave i make a comment about the goofey pacu i saw. "whats that?" ... And as you guess i am the proud owner of ben and jerry our 9-10" red belly pacu. So they have been ok in My 500g only issue is they will eat me out of house and home eating all the massivore. For 2 days id throw a huge handful of massivore in the corner, wait till they were distracted and then try to throw some pellets to my gars.
Today i decided my fish have been good so i grabbed probably 100 feeder fish out of a big bucket i keep em in to fatten and qt. My gf was watching overy shoulder. I think the action of all my big fish and the feeders spooked the pacu and they darted to one side the seccond the first feeder hit the water...
And BAM within maybe one seccond of the first feeder fish hitting the water, my 19" female henlei engulfed ben. She covered him instantly and he struggled for a few secconds before the got him flat against the bottom. I reacted almost instantly with the huge algea magnet stuck right next to her. Keep in mind this is at the end of my 500g where i juat happened to be standing.
The magnet fell off after a few atempts to scare her. I took the half in my hand and slapped the tank multiple times and she literally turned and looked at me and thats when i see ben under her helpless. I jumped on my ghetto step thing armed with a piece of pvc. I nudged her gently to no avail. I pushed her across the bottom about a foot and still nothing. I gave her a decent poke and she swam off angrily.
Ben is shook up and scratched lightly on his side and missing some scales but ok. I think jerry is more scared for ben since hes like pushing him into a corner so he can defend. All this was less than a minute long and here are pics of after the attack. Never forget the stingray is one of if not the top predator in the amazon and the power and agility to pin a pacu this size is amazing.
