Picking this up Saturday in raleigh from an old office that doesn’t want it anymore in raleigh. Looks like a center overflow 96x24x30. Obviously The acrylic needs some attention but the guy is letting me steal it at $300. What you guys think? I’ve never had to do acrylic restoring work before but for that cheap I’ll give it a shot. Does it look salvagable? Sorry this is the best photo I have at the moment, will post more when I go get it.

Steal for $300. Even if it’s not a show tank after some buffing.

Yeah that’s why I can’t pass it up. Going to replace the furniture, I don’t personally like the light brown.

Yes. It’s old and outdated.

My guess is you could hand buff that thing with a soft rag and Maguire's headlight polish and in 30-40 minutes it'd look great from a distance or a cell phone photo, maybe not bad close up. Itd probably take more serious buffing to get it looking perfect under scrutiny or if there's any gouges you want to remove.

I've got an old 75 long that I picked up for a few bucks from some guy who had it sitting in his yard for ages. I've spent maybe 30 minutes of hand buffing on a tank you could only sort of see through, no way one could actually read a book through a side, that's now good enough for what I want out of it. That tank in your picture looks like its be an easy fix unless it's gouged.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. According to the guy the tank is solid, just needs some buff work. Hopefully that is the case Saturday as I am super excited about this tank.

Yeah, I'd say that's an awesome deal. Nice stand, hard to say how the acrylic will look once it's wet but still for so cheap that's fine.

If the stand and canopy are in good condition and it's the color that bothers you rather than the style, a little sanding and paint does surprising things sometimes. I've seen oak cabinet kitchens (so popular in the 70s and 80s) that were just painted and had the hardware and appliances/counter tops changed out that look like recent installs. It really depends on what you like to look at.

looks great! good snag. only thing I'll suggest is give the seams a very thorough inspection and make sure you leak test it outside. i had a big old tenecor tank that was a nightmare to work on with bad leaking seams and hairline cracks. that looks a lot nicer and better if a tank than i had though.
