Hot Glue Gun?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have never tried it, but I was warned by another aquarium freak that possibly the glue may leech out some chemical that could be harmful. Unless someone says for sure it will work I would stay away from it. I always use silicone. Better safe than sorry.

Hot Glue is a wonderful product. It's fast dry times and strength and rigidity would make it the right tool in some instances. Provided it's potable. Which is why I asked. Aquariumpros.com even says it's okay.

"Can I add a weight to my plants using a standard hot glue gun? It seems to be the only glue that will hold the plastic to the rocks.

If you are talking about plastic plants, then yes, that will work fine. You could also use silicone aquarium sealant or a commercial aquatic epozy like Two Little Fishies Aqua Stick."

But I wanted a second opinion.

It even comes in colors.

Always use the correct tool/material for the job. It won't kill you to wait until you can get another $3 tube of silicone sealer to complete the repair properly.
:grinyes:

i like pvc glue

to glue things for the fishtank :P

It depends on the type of glue you use, some say nontoxic or dish safe and should be usable
