Is this something that I have to live with running one of these filters? I have been running this filter for a total of 3 weeks on a 55 gal. and have disassembled and reassembled 5 times trying to figure this out. I have tried 2 dif. micron filters and set up once for carbon and once empty (empty media basket) just as a test. I have used 2 sample tubes of the silicone sealant on the o-rings. It has to be pulling air in from either the intake\return or the lid. I have been able to pretty much make it run almost silent by feeding water into the intake port with a turkey baster before inserting the cheap, thin plastic intake tube. It does appear to be fully purged while it is running (quiet with no visible air) except for the TON of micro_bubbles.

Does anyone have one of these filters that is not having this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Ron

Is the main "D-ring" gasket in place and intact? For some reason, mine didn't even have one, new out of the box. I didn't get alot of leaking- which I would've expected, but I did get alot of bubbles.

I have a 2 filters like that but never expirinced those things...do u fill them with water to the top before using it?

Thanks for responding guys....

Yes, the main D-Ring is seated correctly. That's why I took it apart so many times. It's possible that the air is being drawn in through a small gap in the seam of the return tube. At first I thought that the swivel joint in the return was causing the bubbles, so I cut the tube above the joint and installed a piece of hose extending the joint about 1 inch below the water line.

I just got off the phone with customer service explaining my issues with them. They are sending out a couple of O-Rings for the tubes and another intake tube to try.

I will post my results when they come in.

Will these filters run without any bubbles?

Thanks,
Ron

Mine is bubble-free since I got the D-ring gasket in there. Did your "hose fix" get rid of the bubbles- you didn't really say....

Hopefully the new O-rings will cure the problem. Good luck.

Well they not only sent the intake tube and O_rings... they also sent a spare D-ring and a return tube with diffuser. I installed the new intake tube without changing a thing and no bubbles. I still cant find anything wrong with the old tube. I even tried blowing on one end while plugging the other. The O-ring looks good to me also.

Looks like I'm set! :)

thanks,
Ron
