im new to this wet/dry world, so ive had a lotta questions. one more question.. been runnin the wet dry system for almost two days and at first the pump made a weird squealing noise, thats gone. everything seems fine, but the pump feels really hot. is that normal?

thanks

Questions are why we're here...otherwise it would just be a boring bragging forum.

Sorry didn't see your other post http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65421

Should never have been a noise.

Does the pump seem to be flowing properly?

It will be warm to the touch but not uncomfortably so.

I hate to use the 'R' word (return) if it was bought on the internet...but if it is running very hot call the people you purchased it from to see if they will pre-ship (cross ship) another one so the system is not down (they should just put a hold on your CC till they get the old one back).

well i bought the whole set up used, so i really cant complain got the tank, stand, lids, lights, canopy, big ol wet dry, uv sterilizer, and pump for 300. but yea the pump is hot to the touch, theres no longer any noise (lasted maybe 15 minutes) and the return seems good (strong return).

Do you have the pump submerged or is it not a submersible pump?

Send an email to the manufacturer and give them the normal hype about how it's been a great product etc., you never know, they may help out (warranty?) can't hurt to try.

Did the noise sound like it came from the pump or the moter?

May be a dry bearing causing friction and heat buildup.

Keep us posted.
