So I lost my dragon goby last night. I was puzzled as to why. Then I check the tank temperature and it's 85 degrees! Looks like my heater decided to kick on high and not turn off. What the heck?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I haven't touched the heater since i've set up the tank and had it on a stable temp. Oh and it wasn't bumped by a fish either, I checked the dial on top and it was set to the same origional setting.
WTF?

I had that happen to me earlier. I think you probably had a thermostat malfunction. I went out and got a decent heater with a temp dial on it and life's been groovy ever since!

what kind of heater is it? non-submersible or partly submersible heaters can go out of whack with the water level changes

I had a small fish get sucked up in a power head input (no screen). :swear: It caused the power head to heat up- took a 90 gallon tank to 84+! Lost a big, beautiful koi angel.

i've had at least 3 fish sucked up by a powerhead, didn't heat up the tank though

I have 4 All-Glass heaters and they have never given me any problems. I have 3 Visi-Therm Stealth heaters, also with no problems, and my turtles can't shatter them.
