I just found out that a friend had his 155 gal cleaned by "Aquarium Adventure"
for over $700, one time visit. Either his tank was super dirty or this is a
lucrutive business.

It's a REAL bill.
He was also told there were some items from his wet/dry, stuff inside the tank,
and a bulb that all need replacing.

:(

A real hobbyist would never need pro service to clean a tank. Its part of the joy
of being a fish keeper. LMK if your friends needs his tank serviced. .id do it myself. :)

If your friend got his tank from someplace other than where the maintainence was done from, that explains alot. At my job, I work maintenence often. The other week, I had to install and plumb a mailorder sump. My instructors were simply to "charge alot". I did...and he paid. Had he bought the stuff from our store, not only would the cost have been competitive, but the maintenence would have been much cheaper. Shady? Yes. In the business world, gotta put emotions aside.

must be a saltwater tank. To each his own. Some people like to have a nice tank but doesnt have time to clean it . I Know alot of people who pays someone to maintain their tanks.

you know. It's pretty sad to hear that from somebody who's only 17 years old. :(

thats alot of money maby i should clean tanks for people :naughty:

I agree with Redtail, taking care of your babies is part of the bond ya build with them! :)

Unless of course the owner simply wants them just for show :(

That's insane, $700 is more than most people spend to start their entire first tank. How large was the tank?
