After googling this I remember having one when I was younger. I had to care for it myself, lived for quite awhile. It was on the microwave. The parents would always get mad because it's babies would hang past the door, lol. Thnx

Phalaenopsis sp. is a good starter orchid
My GF loves orchids! Personally they look a little flimsy...literally it's like one stem and it needs to be fastened up so it won't fall. :screwy: She would be pretty happy to see one though. Thnx

maiden hair fern

grows amazing inside in low light.

Get some pothos. Grow and look great...

I'm guessing you mean "Grows even though I put it in a dark corner and only water it when I remember to", in which case peace lily, snake plant (AKA mother-in-law's tongue), any of the dracaenas including cornstalk plant and lucky bamboo, aspidistra, aloes, and many ferns would work well, besides the plants already mentioned.

The urn-formed bromeliads like Aechmea, Guzmania, and Neoregelia are also great- they have a built-in water reservoir, you just fill it up every once in a while and let them be. The bracts around the flower last for months and months, and the plants will usually put out pups around the base.
